SAFER offers grants to support activities in two activities: 1. Hiring of Firefighters; 2. ADDED ON DECEMBER 19, 2023: The Department of Homeland Security has issued a funding opportunity to capitalize revolving loan funds which may be used to provide loans to finance various types of hazard mitigation projects to reduce risks from natural hazards and disasters. Only Tribes and States are eligible for this opportunity. A half billion dollars is being made available to fund this opportunity with maximum awards of $150,000,000.
