ADDED ON MAY 5, 2023: The USDA has issued a funding opportunity to develop their capacity and ability to undertake projects related to housing, community facilities, or community and economic development. The recipients will, in turn, provide programs that will support their communities (beneficiaries). The Intermediary will be required to provide matching funds in an amount at least equal to the RCDI grant. The respective minimum and maximum grant amount per Intermediary are $50,000 and $500,000. $5,000,000 is being made available under this opportunity. Proposals are due on June 28. ADDED ON APRIL 20, 2023: The USDA has issued a funding opportunity which provides qualified public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, which may include but not be limited to, Faith-Based and Community Organizations, and other eligible entities grant funds to assist very low- and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas. In addition, the HPG program assists rental property owners and cooperative housing complexes in repairing and rehabilitating their units if they agree to make such units available to low- and very low-income persons. ADDED ON APRIL 4, 2023: The USDA has issued a funding opportunity to plan and implement forest, rangeland, and watershed restoration projects in Montana and the Dakotas. ADDED ON MARCH 21, 2023: The USDA has issued a funding opportunity in its Community Connect Grant Program which provides financial assistance to eligible applicants that will provide service at or above the Broadband Grant Speed to all premises in rural, economically-challenged communities where broadband service does not exist. The deployment of broadband services on a “community-oriented connectivity” basis stimulates economic development and provides enhanced educational and health care opportunities in rural areas. Proposals are due on June 20, 2023.  Estimated total program funding is $79 million with maximum awards of $5 million and minimum awards of $100,000. To download the synopsis, click here. ADDED ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2022: USDA has issued a funding opportunity to provide loans and grants to Microenterprise Development Organizations. Nonprofits, higher education and federally-recognized tribes are eligible to apply for up to $500,000 in lending authority. Proposals are due on June 30, 2023.
